Course Descriptions.
Nursing
Prerequisites
Prerequisites which must be taken before beginning
upper division nursing courses include:
- two composition courses
- two semesters in human anatomy and physiology
- microbiology
- two semesters of chemistry, including principles of inorganic,
organic and biochemistry
- statistics
- introductory psychology
- developmental psychology
Nursing
Transfer Credit
The Decker School of Nursing will accept up to 30 credits
of nursing coursework to meet degree requirements for licensed
registered nurse students with an associate degree in nursing
from NYS community colleges. Twenty credits will transfer
to meet our upper-division nursing courses, and ten credits
may be used towards general elective requirements. RN students
graduating from hospital diploma programs may earn up to 24
credits for prior nursing knowledge by scoring a C- or better
on three Excelsior College Examinations: adult nursing, maternal/child
nursing, and psychiatric mental health nursing. RN students
with an associate's degree in nursing from out-of-state community
colleges will have transfer credit in nursing coursework evaluated
on an individual basis.
Costs and Financial Aid
Cost:
Undergraduate Costs -Tuition for New York residents $2,175
per semester, plus fees. Summer session and part-time students
$181 per credit, plus fees.
Tuition for non-residents $5,150 per semester, plus fees.
Summer session and part-time students pay $429 per credit,
plus fees.
Financial Assistance:
Financial aid is offered to qualified candidates in the form
of scholarships, grants, loans, and/or employment. Students
may apply for assistance by completing the federal government's
Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is available
in high school guidance offices and college financial aid
offices. In addition, NYS residents should complete the current
edition of the New
York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) Application,
also readily available in schools and colleges. If you have

Currently enrolled nursing students may be eligible for special
aid programs including loans and local grants. A Nursing Student
Loan may be available. The Decker School of Nursing has a
limited number of scholarships available with specific eligibility
criteria including merit and in some cases, residency requirements.
