Zeta Iota Chapter - Membership

 

 

Membership Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate Students must:

  • Have completed ½ of the nursing curriculum.
  • Have at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent.
  • Rank in the upper 35% of the graduating class.
  • Meet the expectation of academic integrity.

Masters Students must:

  • Have completed at least ¼ of the nursing curriculum.
  • Have at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent.
  • Meet the expectation of academic integrity.

Doctoral Students must:

  • Have completed at least ¼ of the nursing curriculum.
  • Have at least a 3.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent.
  • Meet the expectation of academic integrity.

Community Leaders must:

  • Have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree.
  • Have demonstrated marked achievement in nursing education, practice, research, administration or publication.

Nominations for Community Leader Members:
Zeta Iota Chapter is accepting nominations for community leader members to be inducted in April 2000. Candidates for membership as community leaders must be a registered nurse and have held a professional nursing degree for at least five years. Candidates must demonstrate marked achievement in nursing education, practice, research, administration or publication and meet the expectation of professional integrity. Membership Facts

More than 220,000 nurse scholars have been inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International making it the second largest nursing organization in the United States and one of the five largest in the world. The Society is comprised of chapter honor societies that are located on more than 400 college and university campuses in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, South Korea, Taiwan, and Australia. The Society’s members are active in 76 countries and territories worldwide: 43% are clinicians, 27% are administrators, and 20% are educators. Sixty-two percent of the Society’s members hold master’s and/or doctoral degrees.
