Laura Johnson is a clinical instructor at the Decker School of Nursing. A nurse since she was 18, she started out as a candy striper and then worked as a nurses aide while studying to become an LPN through BOCES while in high school.

Johnson went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing from Hartwick College, in Oneonta, NY. While attending Hartwick, she was the president of the Nursing Student Association (NSA) of New York state.

Johnson continued her nursing education earning a Master of Science degree with a major in community health nursing from Binghamton University in 2003. She currently practices as a home care nurse in Scranton, PA, but is licensed to practice in both New York and Pennsylvania.

Several of her many recreational interests include motorcycling, skiing, listening to her IPOD and traveling. She also has two young daughters and a miniature schnauzer named Roofus. Seasonally, Johnson  is a site coordinator and rider coach for the PA Motorcycle Safety Program and is certified to test and grant motorcycle licenses to qualified PA residents.

"What I love most about nursing is how we can empower people through education to make better choices, which helps them to improve their lives," siad Johnson. "I also beleive that nursing has taught me to make the most of every day and not to take each day we are given for granted."
