 Provost Swain came to Binghamton in August 1993 from the University of Michigan, where she served as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. She also held the positions of Interim Director of Affirmative Action and Interim Vice President for Student Services. Provost Swain received the baccalaureate from DePauw University, and the MA and PhD in psychology from the University of Michigan. As Binghamton's chief academic officer, Provost Swain administers all the academic programs conducted here, while also seeing to their enhancement and to the development of the curriculum at all levels. Provost Swain oversees academic staff recruitment, retention, and promotion; the academic budget; and provides overall leadership in the furtherance of Binghamton's academic plan. Provost Swain holds a concurrent tenured appointment in the Decker School of Nursing. |
